Introduction on TNF

The genital reconstruction surgery program for Vietnamese children organizes free surgeries for families with children who, unfortunately, need to reconstruct genital defects caused by congenital issues or accidents. Additionally, the program supports underprivileged families with accommodation and travel expenses.

Initially, the project was launched to help Thien Nhan, a boy abandoned in the forest at birth who lost his genitals and a leg to wild animals. He was adopted and now lives with his new family in Hanoi, Vietnam.

After news of the success of Thien Nhan’s surgery, many families across Vietnam reached out to the program to share their own stories. This inspired Mr. Greig Craft, Ms. Tran Mai Anh, Ms. Hoang Na Huong, and Italian surgeon Dr. Roberto De Castro to establish the program. The topic of genital defects is rarely shared and discussed openly in Asia, but Thien Nhan’s story has changed this perspective. As of 2019, 487 surgeries have been performed.
