Child Genital Surgery Vietnam programme manages free-of-charge operations for families having children with congenital and acquired severe genital inadequacies. In addition, the programme also aids families in need in expenses for food, accommodation, and transportation.
Then the program was inspired by “Miracle Baby” Thien Nhan, an infant discarded at birth and left in a jungle. He suffered severe genital injuries and loss of one leg a brutal mauling by wild animals.
He has since been adopted and lives happily with his new family in Hanoi, Vietnam. He is our official Goodwill Ambassador.
After news spread of Thien Nhan's successful surgery in Italy, poor families throughout Vietnam came forward with their different tragic situations. This was the catalyst for philanthropist Greig and Na Huong Craft, Tran Mai Anh, and Dr. Roberto De Castro’s decision to establish the program. Genital problems are not typically discussed in Asian society, but Thien Nhan’s story changed this. 487 surgeries have been carried out as of 2019.
