Le Thao Nhi was born in 2015 in Dak Lak province with a lack of vaginal structure at birth.
The medical ultrasound examination detected her unusual bladder when it was about the time of the birth-giving day; As Thao Nhi was born with a bulging abdomen, her family immediately took her to Saigon Emergency Hospita that night; The hospital is far away, and the my mother was too weak to follow her son on the way to the hospital. The doctor diagnosed Thao Nhi with ovarian cyst - there was fluid in the uterus, the doctor decided to operate and found that there was fluid in the uterus filling the bladder up to the kidney. As the happiness of being welcomed hadn't come, Thao Nhi had to suffer the harsh sounds of the operating room and anesthesia injections - which sounds frightening even to adults.
Thao Nhi's life after surgery is no better. She had to use a specialized tube connecting the uterus through the outside skin to drain out the fluid inside it for during the past 5 years. Several re-examinations were performed, but there seems to be no results. Having had been taking too much antibiotics resulted in Thao Nhi being less intellectual than other children of the same age. In addition, due to her fever, she had to be hospitalized 2 1-week-long times a month. Thao Nhi's family had to travel back and forth continuously; In fact, they had even prepared a bag of tools and clothes in need for emergency hospitalization. The roadway to the hospital is hundreds kilometers away filled with bumpy bends; Traveling though the terribly nightmarish road took would take 3 hour, but there was no better way back then.
Thao Nhi's mother is a part-time teacher, and her father is a farmer, so the parents took turns taking looking after her. Thao Nhi's family has 3 siblings with the first sister being disabled and Nhi having the disease. Thao Nhi has reached kindergarten age but nowhere would take her, fearing that her friends might accidentally bump into her or snatch her bag; Therefore, she has to be kept at home for safety.
Through the Internet, news, social media, and doctor's recommendation, Thao Nhi's was introduced to signing up for the Thien Nhan & Friends Program. Unfortunately, as COVID-19 spreaded around the world throughout late 2019 and early 2020, social and economic activities were suspended including Thao Nhi and many other patients' treatments not known that Nhi must have surgery until she can return to her normal life. Not knowing how many surgeries it would take to completely cure her disease, the family's greatest wish is to see Thao Nhi healthy, happy, and being able to go to school just like other children.
